Work for Reno, it should be noted, mostly consisted of him putting his feet on his desk and pretending to be busy. There were reports to be filed. He didn't wanna. That required effort.

Taking jobs that involved him chasing down monsters or beating terrorists to a messy pulp or, dare he say it, the jobs that required making hits? That wasn't work. That was play.

Reno? Reno was working. So hard at work. Staring at paper. Paperwork would be less boring if maybe it came in crossword format. Or word search. Or if it was written out in code that replaced each letter of the alphabet with a different picture of a naked chick. If it did that, maybe it wouldn't be so much work!

Yes, he was totally spending his time hard at work trying to will the phone to ring with his brain. Ugh, work.

[For phonecalls, of course. Reno is, as usual, boooored.]

empty houses you could set up as one? would be more complicated but once set if you weren't seen it could maybe work? would order-guys help with that?

empty houses hard 2 find in edge. would hav 2 look in midgar, mostly ruins there, no power 4 heating. maybe i look into renting another apartment or somethin if i can find 1.

oh, flowers growin good in my apartment. got a radish 2 grow in wastes by flowers, too. flowers planted other places in wastes not doin so good tho. kinda wilted, will water more 2 c what happens

That didn't entirely surprise him. Either he'd managed to kill the plant in the transplant, or else there was none of that Lifestream-tainted dead-Zack voodoo floating around the dirt, keeping them alive.

poor flowers! good to hear bout the radish though. maybe plant more 'round the edges and see if they can survive?

maybe add soil sent to you to wilting flower? maybe that will help?

... After all, Reno had enough soil to keep him knee-deep in the stuff for the next few years. A bit spread out in the wastes couldn't hurt anything, right?

im all 4 keepin it alive longr, Reno agreed, sighing and hitting send. He'd kinda feel like crap if he'd managed to kill those flowers in particular. And he was a guy with a long, proud history of killing flowers.

Go figure.

got any seeds grow good in desrt sand? betr see if earth plants take 2 othr parts of the wastes 2 rite?

Radishes and cacti from a different planet. Oh, Edge was in great hands. Or something.

sesame should work. figs too, but take longer 'cause of being a tree. could probably buy sapling if I poked around a bit. pomegranate? prickly pears?

All of which she'd have to do some finagling to get, but still, they could grow in the desert.

It was entirely possible that Reno's grammar was getting worse. He was chewing on a pen lid, now, eyebrows furrowed as he typed.
