It had been A Day. A week. A whole weekend and Reno, who was still both puny and plastic, was in need of a drink.

He wasn't in a bad enough way that he was going to go to the bar. There were certain things that action figures shouldn't do in public. Sure, he could go to The Perk to give computer lessons and he could scar his friends for life, but the bar? Even if he was hurting for a drink and a smoke and a hell of a lot of escapism, he wasn't going to head to the bar. Besides, he had his own booze. It was simply a matter of getting into it. Easy as pie.

Or, it should have been, except the bottle toppled over as he was attempting to pry the cap off, and it took him with it. The next thing he knew, he was on the floor, face down in spilled scotch, and his body was a good four inches away from his head.

Oh, good. Not only was he an action figure, but he was an action figure with a freaking faulty balljoint for a neck.

This would have been less problematic if his body wasn't more interested in saving the booze than it was in solving the fact that it was slightly decapitated at the moment.

"No, stupid, I'm over here."

It was going to continue being A Day.

[Open! And I swear, he'll be normal again tomorrow. I just had to. My own Reno action figure's head falls off on a regular basis. Pretty, yes. Lots of points of articulation? For sure. But clearly not made to do much looking around, poor thing.]

"So put me together or put me down?" Reno was in A Mood. Having a chipper decapitated body and no nicotine to be had was very good at putting Reno into A Mood. "I prefer you put my head back on, though."

A pause.

"Please?"

Romeo sighed.

Flailed a little more, trying not to shake Reno too much.

And, with steady hands, set his head on top of the neck, pushing down lightly to catch the joint. "Hold still! This is the oddest favor I have ever done."

"And this is the second-oddest favor anyone's ever done for me," Reno replied, waiting for his head to snap back into place before giving it an experimental nod.

Oh, yes, was it ever good to have a head on his shoulders again.

He grinned and gave Romeo a thumbs-up. "Thanks, man. I owe you one."

"It's nothing," Romeo said, slightly distracted. "What was first?"

He gently set Reno back on the floor.

Reno just smirked as he went to inspect the losses.

Oh, oh, the poor scotch.

"The first one? That's private. Ain't nobody's business, yo."

"I'm not sure I should even really want to know," Romeo decided.

He was also rather sad about the poor spilled Scotch. "I went back to Verona over the weekend." Which ... sort of came out of nowhere.

Reno turned around to look at Romeo. Doji had mentioned as much that morning, but he wasn't going to stop Romeo from talking if he had to.

"Yeah?"

See. He was all ears. Small, plastic ones.

"And I told Yurika I loved her. And she said I had bad timing." Romeo made a face at this, which was clearly the most important thing that had happened all weekend in his head.

He'd get to the rest of it. Truly.

Reno made a somewhat sour face at that.

"Bad timing? Seriously?" Ouch. "How you holdin' up, then?"

"She told me long ago she didn't love anyone," Romeo mused. "I need only more time to change her mind." He was being optimistic. "But it was rather the perfect end point for a weekend that started badly enough. Though, at least we were not plastic."

Good old Romeo. Reno had yet to figure out how it was that he always managed to make things seem both much more possible than they really were, and still bring the conversation around to those things best left forgotten, all in one breath.

"That's right," Reno agreed. "At least you ain't plastic. You, uh. Went back to Verona then, huh?"

Going home could suck. A lot. Especially when home didn't particularly want you there. Reno could sympathize.

Apparently it was a gift.

"We did," Romeo confirmed, and it was weird to have this conversation with a piece of plastic. "We even got to go to court. I'm not banished any more, at least."

"Hey, bonus," Reno replied. There was a wee little plasticy thumbs-up and everything. "I mean, the not being banished part. Uh. Court sucks."

A pause.

"I think."

"Banished or not, my father made it clear enough they prefer me to stay away," Romeo sighed. "The court bit was none too bad, just discussing my wife's estate." He hated that word. "Though Juliet's parents all but glared holes into me. You've never been?"

"To court? Nah. Workin' for the guys who make the laws kinda makes you immune to 'em until you decide not to play along with whatever they say. And then there ain't a trial. Turks don't count as citizens, so much as tools." Reno shrugged shook his head.

Tools didn't get a judge and jury. Tools were just thrown away when they stopped working.

"Sorry it went that way, man. But it's over now, yeah?"

Romeo followed what Reno was saying about tools and what happened to bad ones, and he winced at it a little.

"It was my first visit. Normally the police chief would have made a decision and forced his will into action, but money was involved this time, and thus a judge," he said flatly.

Which showed something about Verona priorities, really.

"And yes. It's over."

"Always about money," Reno sighed, shaking his head again. Carefully. Lest it fall off again. "At least you made it through. And you're back, yo. Remind me when I'm less plastic to treat you to a drink or somethin' down at Caritas."

"Most things seem to be," Romeo agreed. "Money, or love, but the law cares not for love."

He managed a slight smile. "I'll buy you a drink as well, when you are tall enough to reach the bar again."
