A Zoo on the Mainland, Tuesday, After Classes
Okay. It had been... a week. To say the least. It was only Tuesday and Reno already wanted it to be over, already.
But that wasn't going to stop him from making an ass of himself in public. After all, so far as public outings went, some things were practically sacred.
"Think they'll let me take home a penguin if I ask real nice?"
[For the partner in crime! NFB for being all mainlandy and stuff, woo!]

See? Totally cool.
"Always good to have a plan, yo," he replied, reaching into his pocket and fingering at a mostly-blank business card that had been handed to him a while back. He couldn't help chewing over the notion that passing it on might get in the way of those nice, polished plans. Maybe he'd hang onto it. At least until they talked some more. "Sounds like you got it mostly figured out, huh?"

"Besides, what else would I do?" Dōjima grinned at him faintly. "Be a shop girl? I'd get fired in the first week."

Such casual conversation. Heeey. What was that weird-ass thing in the pen behind them? Don't mind Reno, he had to go investigate.
no subject
Really, it wasn't. Most secretaries didn't have to deal with the man in the closet quite so literally.
The comment about 'odd jobs' however had her giving him a sideways glance, and Dōjima waited for a moment before meandering after him.
"What is it with you and the strange ones?" she asked, making a face at the creature. "And do I even want to know what sort of job you'd term 'odd'?"
It had to be clarified. He could either mean 'random' or, well, Fandom-style 'odd'.

"Normal. 'Cause that kinda matters around where we're goin' to school, too."
no subject
"Are you telling me this because you think I need the practice, think I want the action, or because you're trying to talk me out of SOLOMON?" she asked bluntly. "Did Romeo put you up to this?"
no subject
no subject
Knowing how Romeo felt about her job, you couldn't blame a girl for thinking perhaps her boyfriend had gone running to his BFF to try and find her a way out.

"I know real well about after-grad disagreements. Gonna keep doin' this work in the meantime, anyhow. I'd be some kinda piss-poor Turk if I took off for some different world entirely and left Gaia to rot, zoto."
He held the card out toward her.
"It's somethin' to think about, at least."
no subject
That was her way of saying she was going to do it.
no subject
"Another blond spy, yo. I'm startin' to wonder if I'm outta my league, bein' a redhead in the business."
No, he wasn't.
"Beyond that, I dunno what I'm allowed to say. You give her a call, I'm sure she'll be more'n happy to tell you herself, though."
no subject
What? He did!
"So, what, I dial the number, and say you sent me? I know it's not Aly-sensei, since she left..." Which, really, depressed Yurika to no end. She fixed him with a mid-level pout. "Come on, Red, give a girl a hint. I don't want to screw up by walking in blind, here."
Father Juliano would be furious if he found out, but, well, that just meant he wasn't going to find out.
no subject
"Fine, fine. She's got a cover on the island, too. Owns the last kinda place you'd think a CIA agent would own, sellin' geeky shit to geeks."
And Reno figured that he'd just given more than enough information for Doji to piece it together from there, if she was serious about making that call.
"And you better believe it's all about the blondes, yo."
no subject
"Everything's all about the blondes. We're irresistible, you know," she informed him smugly. "It's what makes us so good at what we do."
no subject
Tall animals with spots. Huh. Earth creatures were freaking weird.
no subject
"Of course I know where I stand. I'm a Hunter. I can be as okay or not-okay with it as I want, but at the end of the day, I am what I am. This - " here she patted her pocket lightly, " - if it works out, is just a bit of fun. I made my choices, and it's not something I can change, even if I wanted to."
no subject
Casual conversation, really. Aww. Baby giraffe fell on its ass. Reno was obligated to watch.
no subject
She fidgeted slightly, not looking him in the eye. "I think I might have accidentally lied to Romeo. I mean, I thought I was telling the truth, I did, but, I'm a Seed, Reno. I'm not ever going to be done with SOLOMON, even if they hold to our agreement."
"And if I ever do manifest, well, all deals are off." She shrugged, watching the baby giraffe. "Craft users and their talents belong to SOLOMON, not to themselves."
no subject
"Then here's hopin' you don't," he decided. And then, finally, he did glance her way. "You gonna tell Romeo?"
It wasn't his place to pass it on. But... His buddy would probably like to know. Just saying.

She grinned faintly, trying to muster up happy thoughts. "I'm probably just worried over nothing, right? I mean, I can't even manage to hex a rock."
no subject
"Doji, I use more magic just pissin' around in sparring matches than I'm sure you ever will, yo." He was pretty sure that was supposed to be a compliment, somehow. "Man, we're on a roll, ain't we? Worried about the future, can't live down the past. Serves us right."
no subject
no subject
"I think truer words ain't never been spoken, yo."
To the penguins, armed with concealed booze and denial!
no subject
"Everything is going to be fine. I know this, because you two still owe us a night out on the town, we have Spring Break coming up, and you still have to moon Tseng at graduation for me. Clearly, the universe is on our side."
no subject
Granted, that revenge would probably be on Reno. And it would likely be in the form of paperwork up to his nuts. But that hardly mattered, did it?
