29 Chimera Court, Saturday Evening

Ah, it was good to be back on the island. Sure, most of the faces were new. Again. And Reno had spent the better part of the day with his shades on while he adjusted to actual sunlight. Again. And he didn't technically have a place to stay. Yet.

That was what he was working on fixing now, his bag slung over his shoulder containing a ferret and anything that he could smuggle into the bag during the picnic that looked like Mako would enjoy it. Not that Reno had really been careful about smuggling the food in the first place. It was a picnic. Taking food was half the expectation, and what the hell was the school going to do with the leftovers?

He stopped in front of a decent looking place not far from the water, straightened the bag on his back, and considered it for a moment. The place looked occupied already, which would make it a challenge, sure. But if there was one thing Reno liked, it was a challenge. With a little 'heh' and a swagger in his step, he made his way up to the front door and tried the handle.

If this went to hell in a handbag in three seconds flat, at least it'd be a good time.

"Does Mako speak?" Mitsuda asked, genuinely curious.

Look, he came from a place that had talking computer-foxes.

Reno quirked an eyebrow a little at that.

"Ain't got no problem with 'em or anything. Why? You got a pet or something?"

"Only if you count honking sounds," Reno replied.

Eh, he'd been asked weirder.

"I've turned into one before," Miguel said. Because Fandom. "I'd rather not get stomped on in my own home."

"Duly noted," Reno replied. "I turn into a really big bird on occasion thanks to this place. I won't step on you if you don't serve me up as drumsticks, we'll be even."

"Fair enough." Miguel grinned. "Let's just hope they don't both happen at the same time." Since he probably looked edible and was very venomous.

"Anything about you we need to know? Special needs, weird experiments in the basement, you can't eat spicy foods?"

That last one would be tragic.

"I come bearing a ferret," Reno offered, nodding to the bag over his shoulder with a dozing critter inside. "But other'n that, I'm pretty low maintenance. Been livin' in a desert wasteland for the better part of the past decade or more."

Yeah. Just imagine that as a redhead. Great times in Edge.

"Huh. Never seen a ferret." Miguel peered around Reno's shoulder. "Do we need to keep an eye out for him underfoot, or does he get a cage or something?"

Miguel: Not a pet person.

"I'll get him a cage, once I got a place to put one," Reno replied, shrugging, "and if I let him out, it'll be in my room, otherwise he'll be with me, yo."

Reno was actually a pretty responsible pet owner. Who knew? He shuffled the bag around again and opened it so that Miguel could have a look. There Mako was, curled up and snoozing next to a handful of cold cuts that Reno had snagged from the picnic.

He traveled light, apparently.

"Okay, that's actually kind of cute," Miguel decided. Then he shrugged. "Well, you didn't say no to spicy food, so want some dinner? You can hang out and ask the other guys when they show up. You've got my vote."

Hey, it wasn't like he'd started any worse than Miguel had, wandering in assuming the place was his.

"Hey, that's two votes outta... how many?" Reno grinned as he closed his bag again. "And you didn't even make me run laps, yo. Sure, dinner sounds great."

He wasn't picky about what went into his mouth. Spicy? Great. Bring it.

"Was I supposed to make you do something?" Miguel scrambled for an idea. "Hang from the ceiling," he said with a grin.

Reno glanced up at the ceiling.

"I could," he mused. "How much you like your ceiling?"

It involved equipment, okay?

"It keeps the rain off," Miguel said. "You break it, you bought it."

Reno considered that for a moment more.

"Tell you while. I'll scale the side of the house in two seconds instead."

He was bargaining for a dare.

Miguel grinned. "Okay, you're on."

Reno smirked, shrugged, and held out the bag with the dozing ferret in it.

"Okay, you hold this," he said, turning for the door. "Don't wanna wake the weasel."

"I thought you'd do it with him on your back." Miguel took the pack carefully, though, as he followed.

"I could," Reno shared, "but then I'd have to let him out if he wakes up. Which is fine. He could use a good run, too."

He stepped outside, considered the house thoughtfully, and then shrugged and just... ran up the side of it. No big deal. He'd climbed bigger.

Miguel laughed. "You said scale, not run. I don't know if I should call that cheating or not." He got a little further out of the way in case Reno needed to jump down.

Reno sat on the edge of the roof and grinned.

"What, you wanna see if I go faster usin' my hands?"

Because he could do that, too. It also wouldn't be a first.

"Nah, just not what I was expecting."

And hey, why should Reno be the only one to show off?

Crouching, Miguel jumped and landed next to Reno on the roof.

Carefully, so as not to wake the ferret.

"Oh, come on," Reno said, glancing toward Miguel and smirking a bit. "I get called out for not climbin' and you jump? I could'a just gone ahead and done that, yo."

"I wasn't the one on the dare," Miguel pointed out. "And you picked this instead of hanging on the ceiling."

"Well, I ain't sticky and I can't do that without breakin' something," Reno replied with a shrug. "I said I turn into a bird. You're the spider here, yo."
