OOC: Fairies!

Sooo.

Anybody remember these things?

On a whim, I feel like making another small round of fairy icons. I have time to kill, a tablet that's falling into a horrible state of dustiness, and itchy arty fingers.

This will not happen often, if ever again. So, if you've been eying the little fairies that have been floating around people's OOC posts for over a year now, this could very well be your only chance to get one. I'm going to cap this off at the first four people to reply, and I'll only accept requests for characters who don't already have one. Because, really, everyone deserves an icon, right?

All I ask is for a reference picture of your character that shows off things like hair colour and clothing, and for you to tell me what you'd like for a fairy.

One request per player, please. Just to give people a better chance. I'm not really pulling these suckers out of retirement, but it's nice to play with an old trend now and again. Kind of like the hair scrunchies and legwarmers of the internets.

ETA: All slots are filled! Congrats to Toby, Kurogane, Ino, and Romeo!

One of these days, I'll even check out Tsubasa. Part of my brain is still having troubles registering the Cardcaptor Sakura/Magic Knight Rayearth crossover... thing? But it's probably one of those things that must be seen to be appreciated.

And besides, CLAMP has never steered me wrong before. :O

Doing security the other year at Animethon, I confiscated an actual pair of iron kunai from an eight-year-old kid. Trufax.

What I want to know is, what parent under the sun thinks that it's a good idea to give their eight-year-old a real pair of heavy Japanese weapons to bring to a convention that's open to the public as part of their costume?

Weaaaapons. Wtf. Wtf. Wtf.

Also confiscated for the duration of that convention? At least a dozen katana, some of them not blunted at all, twice that many bokken, a bo-staff, and, of all things, a solid metal replica of a gunblade.

Because they're severely brain-dead, I swear. And people keep trying, it's crazy to hear about some of the stuff people try to get into a convention. I heard of one person who wanted to bring in a fully functional bow, with live arrows. Yeah. Brilliant. Nice try there.

It's a depressing lack of common sense, I think.

You'd think that the copious amounts of rules posted all over the con saying clearly that all weapons are banned would be a good indication, really.

After that, I just wanted to smack every cosplayer that walked by. And I like cosplay.

Surprisingly, not at all. Except to escort a couple of vendors out of the merch room because they were selling bootleg merchandise. Getting people to hand over their weapons was surprisingly easy.

For the most part, these things are retired. Except for this Supaa Special Promotion (tm), mostly I just commission them out for paid LJ time. A month of subscription time per icon. So getting one even though I'm not in the habit of giving them out isn't really hopeless. It just requires that you have five dollars to dump onto the internets. :)

I imagine it would be possible. But I think it would require resisting the same temptation that I had while I was doing Demyx's, way back when, to pull a quick palette swap in order to make the chibi into Captain Planet.

Now that is a mighty mullet.
