Room 429, Friday Morning

Sleep. Sleep was good. There wasn't enough sleep in the world, and Reno and Rikku had been up late-ish last night, and now he appeared to be in the bed alone. Hrm.

Reno patted the mattress beside him. Yep. No Rikku.

Hrm.

He cracked open one eye and looked around the room. Oh, there she was.

"Uh. What'cha doin, zoto?"

[For Rikku, who was moddilymodded with permission, yo.]

"They've got C4 here," she said, "so I know they've got all kinds of good stuff. But maybe none of it's designed to crack armor, specifically, you know? I could throw Shining Gems at something all day and it's only gonna bruise them if I don't start it off with a frag grenade."

She pointed to one of the items. "That one. Second in sequence, 'cause first is the purifying salt. Dispel, break its armor, and then hit it with the big guns." She pointed to the rest, in order. "Shining Gem, Supreme Gem, C4, Shining Gem, a pinch of anfo, another Frag Grenade, gunpowder, Supreme Gem. I wish I still had some Dark Matter. I'm out."

Reno was going to casually zip up his pants and watch for a moment before even thinking about adding a shirt to the mix. Clothing was entirely too overrated first thing in the morning.

"Does it gotta be Dark Matter? I mean, I picked up some pretty sweet shit at the Gold Saucer before gettin' smashed and bettin' on chocobos." He wandered over to his dresser.

Everything worth looking for was in his dresser, somewhere between the booze and the q-tips.

"Got some Stardust. Comet 2 ain't really my shtick, but when you got extra BP left, you gotta spend it before you go, you know? They don't keep records of how much you earned, lazy asses. I was plannin' on pawnin' it off next time I went to Edge."

"Comet?" She looked over sharply, interest piqued. "Like behemoths cast? Seriously?"

"Behemoths cast Comet? News to me. But then, I never ran into their big cousins in the Northern Crater, yo." He blinked over his shoulder at her before pulling out a little pouch of dust. If any of the normal ones that had rushed Sector 8 had been able to do that, there would have been issues. Sector 8 was Turks' turf... While it was still there and all. "I don't use this shit. Just, you know. Point at crap and say, 'I'll take three of those and two of that, what the hell, I'm gonna lose these points anyhow.'"

"Can I?" she asked, reaching for it. Comet, she didn't think Lulu knew that spell, either, and it was so freaking tempting to go out into the park and just throw this and watch the little boulders come down from the sky, which would be a waste and so she was just going to take the bag and look at the sparkly dust inside. "That's ... that's amazing."

Tiny little specks and so cool.

"I guess so? Can't get it anywhere but the Gold Saucer, so it's probably a big deal, zoto." He shrugged. "Keep it. Was just gonna try to make some Gil on it anyhow. Don't take much to find someone who knows rare merch when they see it, even in Edge."

"You're serious?" She looked at the pouch. "I think ... if I added some of this in here ..."

Right after the anfo.

"I'm just doing one. For now. A test run. I don't want to tell anyone, because this may not work at all, you know? But if it does? Then we make more and get help from people and ... you know?"

Reno nodded and closed his drawer, standing up.

"Makes sense to me, yo. No sense going runnin' around sayin' we have the fix if we don't know for sure, yo." He glanced at the clock. "I was gonna check out the numbers in class today, yo. Gettin' to be that time."

"Go to class," she said, bouncing up to her feet and giving him a quick kiss. "I'll go test this out. I'll be very careful, I promise, and I'll head right back here either way. Okay?"

He smirked faintly and gave a nod of his head.

"You get your ass sent back in time, I'm gonna hunt down your old granny-ass present self and shake you until your false teeth fall out."

It was a phrase of endearment. Coming from Reno, anyhow.

"If I get sent back in time, I'll come throw my walker at you," she grinned. "I'll be safe. Honest."
